Red carpets add glitz and glam to every event but it is quite disheartening that many have associated this particular carpet with celebrities, the crème de la crème in the society and of course the competitive ground for Cinderella in her grand ball gown and other Disney princesses “wanna-be”. This myth or red-carpet stereotype has steered many beautiful with a perceived sad sense of fashion or style away from the red carpet but guess who broke this jinx on the 29th of December, 2018? ZENITH BANK!

Through Style by Zenith, Zenith Bank’s first lifestyle event which turned out to be great after all following our numerous doubts about how they could pull off something which only GT Bank has been able to do successfully over the years, Zenith bank proved to us that they got the game. Did they wow us? No doubt.

From the buzz created about Style by Zenith, which got many wondering what it was all about, media event for influencers and many other experientials that got Lagosians immersed in the image Zenith was gradually building to the grand fair that brought 2018 to a grand and pleasurable exit, Zenith Bank outdid themselves and got themselves strategically re-positioned in the minds of Lagosians, well Nigerians at large. If you ask us which bank is on our minds now and of course trending in the social space, ZENITH IT IS!

NOW TO THE GIST!

...g fun experience that was held at the open ground by Four Points Sheraton. If you are a fashion connoisseur and style enthusiast, then you should be familiar with the venue that last hosted arguably the biggest fashion event in Africa, Heineken Lagos Fashion Week 2018. If you were wowed by the aesthetics at the HLFW’18, you would have been won over by the beautifully curated specs put in place at the venue, which didn’t only provide the perfect ambience but also gave a detailed graphic definition of what lifestyle should be. With appealing, breezy and profound creative aesthetics that left many drooling and erased the earlier dullness of doubtful attendees, the tone for the day was set as each attendee walked through the tents of open ground.

It is safe to mention that we were all celebrities and there was no difference or hierarchical order as seen at many Lagos events. We all became Cinderellas and Princes as we walked the length and breadth of the great tents at the open ground with our heels, sneakers, and slides sinking into the blood-red carpet that Zenith. I particularly felt good as I am sure the rest of the attendees in their hundreds did too.

The fair was a free one and was open to all. From the fashion industry, media, hospitality, automobile and entertainment, big players gathered to mingle and added more fun to the event by giving people what to whispers about and gaze longingly at. The event witnessed the presence of style influencers like Laura Ikeji, Denola Grey, Eku Edewor, Tobi Bakre, Shaffy Bello, Akin Faminu, Mercy Ajisafe and of course, the South African Queen of TV, Africa’s very own Queen B, Bonang Matheba. Actress, Ireti Doyle made it to the event and we were dazzled by her melanin beauty and charisma. Love doctor & Psychologist, Joro Olumofin graced us with his presence and loyal fans gathered around for personal shots and selfies.

While attendees fed their eyes and reduced the heavy feel of their wallets, some of us moved towards the second tent which was dedicated to fashion. Over 50 fashion vendors had set their camps at stalls assigned to them and displayed colorful Afrocentric fashion items ranging from dresses, kimonos, agbadas, suits, hand-made bags, shoes, jewellery and other accessories. Right in the middle of the tent, a crowd had gathered around what turned out to be a mini runway to view exciting pieces from top designers across Nigeria.
Of-course Kimono collection, Lanre da silva Ajayi wowed us with their beautiful and creative pieces and someone who got our blood racing was JREASON with an “out of this world” collection for both male and female. He is definitely someone to watch out for in the fashion industry.

The mini runway show was hosted by Beat 99.9fm anchor and Fashion One Tv host, Simi Drey, popularly referred to as the Duchess of Ibadan and for the master class for models, Panelists, Bonang Matheba, Oraine Barret, Ogunranti Anthony, Wunmi Ogunbiyi, Mercy Ajisafe and Tamar Awobotu talked to Models about Skin care in Modelling, Nutritional factors in modelling and other topics that revolved around making a successful career out of modelling.
The most fascinating part of all was the nice consideration for kids as the organizers built a playhouse for the kids allowing their parents enjoy the essence of the fair and shop without kids tugging at the hems of their skirts or shirts at intervals.

Soon enough, the sunset and the already prepared stage for the musical concert began to take on a better look with models walking the length of it. Studio 53 host, Eku Edewor who also happened to be the host for the night, sauntered on stage in her agurocks black and white little dress, completely finished with the most minimal jewellery and nude boots.
Comedians Buchi and Kenny Blaq got our guts crying for help as they cracked jokes and threw shades and our artistes for the night, Adekunle Gold, BOJ, Mayorkun, Timaya and Wande Coal gave their best as expected and got many dancing. BBN star, Alex Unusual got to the stage to do what she does best while Timaya performed his latest song and also threw some oldies our way.

The second day of the event was pretty much a repeat of the first but with more attendees, all of whom had heard the news of what Zenith Bank had pulled off the first day and the fun they missed out on. Of-course the pepper dem gang like us who tattooed our Instagram stories and page with pictures and used the hash tags style by zenith got many eyes popping and hearts ready to partake in the event. You are welcome.
Simi, Waje and 2baba got us on our feet digging and grinding as they gave their powerful renditions while the foodies amongst us hummed along with stuffed mouths and filled hands. You definitely would laugh at the site of that.

Style by Zenith is one event we wouldn’t forget in a hurry and yeah 2019, we are so ready!

Enough said, see through our eyes what you missed on the 29th and 30th of December, 2018. Enjoy!
